Lippi’s disciplined, star-studded side, anchored by Peruzzi, Ferrara, Montero, Deschamps, Zidane and Del Piero, controlled the key moments without turning the game into a spectacle, until the 81st minute when Del Piero’s precise low left-footed finish sealed a 1–0 win and confirmed Juventus as the defining global club team of the mid-90s.
