Inter 1997/98: Under Gigi Simoni, Inter finished second in Serie A and won the UEFA Cup, beating Lazio 3–0 in the final in Paris. In his debut Inter season Ronaldo wore No. 10 after joining for a world-record transfer fee. He won the 1997 Ballon d’Or and produced key goals in Europe, including a trademark round-the-keeper finish in the UEFA Cup final.
