Fabio Capello returned for a single season as Milan reshaped after Baresi’s retirement. It proved transitional: no European campaign, a mid-table 10th-place league finish, and a squad refreshed by arrivals such as Leonardo and Kluivert before the club’s switch to adidas the following year.
