Parma home shirt, 1994/95, match-worn by Fernando Couto (No. 6).
White Umbro long sleeve with Parmalat in blue flock across the chest and No. 6 in light flock to the back.
Scala’s Parma reached two finals—winning the UEFA Cup over Juventus and finishing runners-up to the same opponents in the Coppa Italia—while staying at the sharp end of Serie A. The back line was the platform: Benarrivo–Minotti–Apolloni–Couto supported by a midfield that could both press and keep the ball, with Zola and Dino Baggio supplying the front unit. It was a season that cemented Parma’s status as the most complete cup side of the mid-’90s.
Fresh from Porto, Couto slotted at left centre-back, aggressive in the duel and authoritative in the air. His front-foot running compressed space for Parma’s midfield and he brought a leader’s edge in European ties—anticipation, body positioning, and the willingness to carry into midfield to break a press. This was the year Italian audiences took note the rugged elegance that later carried him to Barcelona.
Status: Part of the Calcio 90 Private Collection, not for sale.
