AS Roma home shirt (giallorosso), 1996/97 — match-worn by Marco Delvecchio.
short-sleeve Asics issue with DELVECCHIO 23 in original flock to the back; season-correct player spec and typography.
The club navigated a transitional year at the Olimpico in the first wave of fixed squad numbers and names on shirts. It was Roma’s first campaign without long-time captain Giuseppe Giannini, and new midfield pieces - most notably Damiano Tommasi - were integrated as the side searched for balance. Results swung from impressive wins to lean spells, and the season ultimately served as a bridge to the tactical reset that would arrive the following year.
Wearing No. 23, Delvecchio operated mainly off the left or as a second striker, tasked with stretching back lines and linking with the central forward. He cemented himself as a regular in the match-day squad across league and cup, his work rate and aerial strength earning sustained minutes and laying the groundwork for the attacking role he would make his own in subsequent seasons.
Status: Part of the Calcio 90 Private Collection, not for sale.
