AC Milan red and black home shirt, 1996/97, match-prepared for Gianluigi Lentini. Number 7; Lotto with Opel sponsor.
In 1992 Milan signed Gianluigi Lentini from Torino for a then world-record fee (reported at around £13 million / 18.5 billion lire). In his first Scudetto season he logged 30 Serie A appearances and 7 goals, ranking among Milan’s top scorers and assist providers in 1992/93. His career trajectory changed after a high-speed car crash on 2 August 1993 near Villafranca d’Asti that left him with a fractured skull and eye-socket damage; he returned late in 1993/94 but never fully regained his pre-accident form. By August 1996 he had moved to Atalanta (loan) and did not feature competitively for Milan in 1996/97; a year later he completed a return to Torino
