Atalanta home shirt, 1996/97 — match-worn by Filippo Inzaghi. Asics issue with Somet Telai Tessili sponsor; classic nerazzurro stripes and player-spec number 9 in light flock on the back.
Emiliano Mondonico’s side finished 10th in Serie A with 44 points, a steady mid-table return built on resilient defending and long unbeaten spells. Goalkeeper Davide Pinato set a club record with 757 minutes without conceding, a benchmark for the era.
Wearing No. 9, Filippo Inzaghi scored 24 league goals in 33 appearances, winning the capocannoniere and setting an Atalanta single-season scoring record at the time. His last-line movement and penalty-area instincts powered the attack and earned him a summer move to Juventus.
The season was overshadowed by the tragic death of forward Federico Pisani in February 1997. Atalanta retired his No. 14 and named the Curva Nord in his honour—a moment that defined the club’s year beyond results.
