🏛 PRIVATE COLLECTION 🏛
Perugia away shirt, 1996/97, match worn for Marco Materazzi (No. 36).
Galex issue in black with CEPU sponsor; short sleeves, player-spec fabric and MATERAZZI 36 sublimated into the cloth on the back.
Newly promoted, Perugia returned to Serie A and fought a rugged survival campaign, finishing 16th. The year split in two: Giovanni Galeone to January, then Nevio Scala to June. The squad mixed experienced hands and emerging talent—Pietro Vierchowod at 38 anchoring the defence, Federico Giunti and Michel Kreek in midfield, and wide craft from Milan Rapaić—while a teenage Gennaro Gattuso took early steps in the top flight.
Materazzi's campaign was split in two. In the autumn he was on loan at Carpi in Serie C1, where he posted an eye-catching 18 league appearances and 7 goals from centre-half. He returned to Perugia in January 1997 and featured regularly in Serie A, adding 14 league appearances and 2 goals in the spring.
Status: Part of the Calcio 90 Private Collection, not for sale.
