🏛 PRIVATE COLLECTION 🏛
Parma shirt, 1997/98 — match-worn by Enrico Chiesa. Puma player-issue from the season set with Parmalat branding in the weave and name and number 20 in the fabric of the shirt.
Parma balanced their first Champions League campaign with a solid domestic year, keeping the defensive standards set under Ancelotti while bedding in a quick, vertical attacking game. A compact mid-block, full-backs stepping high and early forward passes remained the template; the Tardini was difficult for visiting sides, and the squad’s depth allowed rotation without a marked drop-off.
The principal finisher in a two-man front line, Chiesa worked the last shoulder, attacked the near post and struck cleanly off either foot from range. His understanding with Hernán Crespo matured: curved runs across the line to free the Argentine, then late arrivals for cut-backs or diagonals. It was a season of decisive contributions in tight matches, with his power and timing making him the side’s most reliable goal threat.
