Fiorentina home shirt (viola), 1996/97, match-worn by Gabriel Batistuta. Short-sleeve Reebok issue with Sammontana sponsor and stitched diamond crest; the chest carries the Coppa Italia winners’ coccarda from the previous season. The sleeves show the purple/red Reebok motif with contrast cuffs, and the back is finished with arched BATISTUTA over a large 9 in season-correct Reebok print.

Claudio Ranieri’s side opened the year by winning the Supercoppa Italiana and went on to finish 9th in Serie A. In Europe they advanced to the Cup Winners’ Cup semi-finals, bowing out to eventual champions Barcelona, while their Coppa Italia defence ended in the Round of 16.

Wearing No. 9, Batistuta finished as the club’s top scorer with 13 league goals and 19 in all competitions. He found the net in the Cup Winners’ Cup run and remained the focal point of the attack, leading the line through a transitional domestic campaign.
