In 1997–98, George Weah was AC Milan’s top scorer, finishing with 13 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions: 10 goals in 24 Serie A matches and 3 goals in 8 Coppa Italia games. Milan ended the league season 10th with 44 points, but reached the Coppa Italia final, where Weah scored in the second leg against Lazio. He played mainly as a centre-forward and remained Milan’s main attacking reference in a difficult season for the club.
