Desailly was one of Milan’s key players through the mid-1990s, combining physical power with tactical intelligence in both midfield and defence. By 1997 he was part of a changing Milan side, but remained one of the squad’s most authoritative figures, having already won the Champions League with the club in 1994 and Serie A titles in 1993/94 and 1995/96.
